
Suzanne Swart
Suzanne Swart is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP).
She obtained her BA(SW) Degree at the University of Stellenbosch and thereafter completed her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Johannesburg. Her experience includes working at Child Welfare Tshwane as a social worker in the Therapy and Assessment Unit, whereafter she resided in Stockholm, Sweden for 8 months from 2018-2019. Upon returning from Sweden, Suzanne opened her own clinical practice and joined the multi-disciplinary team at Minke Saayman Child and Family Centre.
Suzanne has vast experience in socio-emotional assessment and -therapy with children, adults, and families as well as Voice of the Child Interviews in the case of divorce. Suzanne has also supervised 4th students of the Department of Social Work at the University of Johannesburg.
Suzanne strives to assist her clients whilst placing a strong focus on professionalism, fairness, and empathy. Suzanne has an outstanding passion for her work because she loves what she does. She enjoys helping people move through the healing process and has a steady source of motivation that drives her to do her best. Suzanne places a strong emphasis on constant learning and development of new skills to assist her clients in the best possible manner based on the latest research and literature.
Suzanne is a people-person. She loves meeting new people and learning about their lives and their backgrounds. She can almost always find common ground with strangers and likes making people feel comfortable in her presence. It is very important to deliver ethically sound services to clients, which is what Suzanne strives towards with every case she is involved in.
The framework from which she works includes child-centered play therapy, attachment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, parental skills training, and more recently tele-play therapy.
