Minke Saayman
Clinical Social Worker
Minke Saayman is the owner of the Minke Saayman Child and Family Centre. She is also a mother of two children.
Minke Saayman is a Clinical Social Worker in private practice since 2009. She obtained her BA(SW) at Potchefstroom University in 1996 and then in 2010 her Masters Degree, MA (Soc Sc) Clinical – (Cum Laude), at the University of Johannesburg. Her vast experience includes social work at Child Welfare in Potchefstroom, after which she relocated to Johannesburg and joined the teams at various Abraham Kriel Maria Kloppers Children’s Home campuses as social worker and later as campus manager, before starting private practice in 2009. During this time, she was also involved in working with children and foster parents at uMephi Cluster Foster Homes. In 2017 she opened the Minke Saayman Child and Family Centre in Northcliff.
Mrs Saayman has vast experience in socio-emotional assessment and -therapy with children, adults and families. She is also involved in lecturing, supervision and internship training of social work students at the University of Johannesburg and also presents training for Master Students at the University of Johannesburg.
She is passionate about working with children and families and to heal the effects of childhood trauma as well as to assist with the healing of other mental health concerns. The framework from which she works includes child-centered play therapy, attachment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, parental skills training and more recently tele-play therapy.
Minke presents workshops and training to other professionals, teachers and parents.
